Founded by Claire Spratt in 2008; a RADA graduate & industry professional for 17 years prior to starting Planet Rabbit - having worked for numerous theatre producers & venues throughout the UK.
Planet Rabbit was a small-scale professional theatre company based in Yorkshire with a reputation for taking high quality productions to theatres, arts centres & communities across the North of England.
Planet Rabbit hired teams of dedicated professional actors and crew who were committed to presenting first class theatre. Some of the actors and creatives had worked with leading stage companies including Northern Broadsides and Hull Truck. Others had made appearances in the West End and some had many notable tv credits - including familiar faces who had appeared as regular soap opera characters. Most having trained at leading drama schools including Guildhall, Guildford, Bristol Old Vic, Rose Bruford, Mountview & Birmingham School of Acting.
Planet Rabbit were not in receipt of any funding and relied on box office ticket sales and the sale of props & costumes from previous productions to ensure they remained on the professional touring circuit. Claire produced all the shows, directed the majority and wrote many - successfully ensuring the productions continued to tour.
The shows & tours were tailored for the Planet Rabbit audiences; choosing popular & appealing plays, visiting accessible venues within easy reach, keeping ticket prices low & orchestrating the tours to ensure many return visits could be made.
It was a lot of hard work ... but mostly a whole lot of fun!
